Stingo (Peter MacNicol), relocates to Brooklyn and befriends Sa Polish girl named Sophie Zawistowski (Meryl Streep) and her partner Nathan Landau (Kevin Kline). Nathan reveals that something good in his research at a pharmaceutical company while Stingo is busy writing his autobiographical book. The only interesting story was Sophie’s ordeal of choosing which to give up in Auschwitz and her experience with the German family. Peter MacNicol was not engaging and Kevin Kline seems to be over the top in his portrayal though it had to represent his character. Meryl Streep just radiates and her remarkable effort which was greatly rewarded in the Academy awards. Aside from her performance and Sophie’s story, most parts were somewhat dull. Sophie’s Choice is a dismal drama that deals with friendship and telling the truth.
