Bourne Identity, The (2002)
The Bourne Identity review
3/4 stars

The man who retrograde amnesia adopts the identity of Jason Bourne (Matt Damon), only remembers the account number to a safe deposit box. Marie Kreutz (Franka Potente) is approached by Bourne and is offered $20,000 to take him to Paris. Alexander Conklin (Chris Cooper), the head of Treadstone, reveals to his superior Deputy Director Ward Abbott (Brian Cox), that Bourne was the covert operative responsible for a failed assassination attempt on African dictator Nykwana Wombosi (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje). "The Professor" (Clive Owen) is involved with a mission of Bourne’s.

It boasts one of the best and fresh fight scenes on screen. The plot became clear towards its conclusion and lines were a bit uninvolved at times because of the story’s pace. Damon and Pontente have good onscreen chemistry while Owen’s role was not that long enough to make the premise more interesting. It was pleasing to see the protagonist with a love interest, unlike the other franchises installments. Soundtrack for the film made it come alive and the screenplay was unique. Furthermore, Damon shows sincerity in his role, which amplifies the likability of his character. The Bourne Identity introduced an action hero despite his illness, can still manage to entertain in the action genre.
