Paul review

Tara’s dog got squashed by a spaceship of Paul. To geeks Graeme (sketch artist) and Clive (writer) meet Paul and embarks in a journey. Many extra terrestrial references such as Close Encounters of the 3rd kind (tone, ending and mountain), Star Wars (shirt/the memorabilia/soundtrack), E.T. (signal while waiting), X-files (Paul’s idea of Maulder),Mac & Me Aliens (Weaver) and of course, the director who does the best alien related flicks, Spielberg. Some quotes from the cool weed smoking alien: “Sometimes you just gotta roll the dice.” Graeme – “Just because your truth isn't the true truth, doesn't mean there is no truth, Ruth.” Soundtrack, cinematography and special effects were really good. Topics about science, faith, friendship and never quitting were symbolized on the movie. Paul had a few cheesy and ludicrous scenes that tried too hard to be funny and the two FBI agents, Haggard and O'Reilly characters seemed too childish. The totality of the picture was entertaining nevertheless, Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz still superior efforts Pegg and Frost.
