Shutter Island review

The films main star is US Marshal Edward "Teddy" Daniels (Leonardo DiCaprio). It also involves is Chuck Aule (Mark Ruffalo) and Dr. John Cawley(Ben Kinsley). Both Chuck and Teddy have been assigned to Shutter Island, where the Ashecliffe Hospital is located to resolve a mystery of the disappearance of a patient named Rachel Solando. The criminally insane institution has “secrets” discovered by Edward. He also experiences severe migraines and delusional images. Dr. Cawley exposes to Teddy that he is not Edward Daniels, but ex-Marshal Andrew Laeddis. From the middle of the film I feel the end is predictably. After completing the movie, I was essentially correct. For me, only the main protagonist was given character build-up. I felt the character of Michelle Williams (Dolores Chanel) should have been further explored as to the real reason for killing their children. The ride with Teddy and the Chief guard was obviously fake, not sure why they executed that scene in that manner. As Teddy/Andrew said - "is it worse to live as a monster, or die as a good man?" The musical score fit the mood of the picture, solid performances from background characters, cinematography was good and the story was albeit interesting. It was entertaining at the beginning but just slows down in the middle and did not have an impact in the end. Not one of Scorsese’s best, one worth viewing because of its execution and scenery.
