The best movie musical would be a great movie even without the music. Jean Hagen is a comedy delight, and the many character actors in supporting roles add to the movie's charm. Add in Gene and Debbie's singin' and dancin' and squabblin', and then top it off with the best filmed dance routine of all time--Donald O'Connor's "Make 'em Laugh"--and you have the unbeatably perfect movie musical.
