Devil and Daniel Webster, The ( All that Money Can Buy )

A terrific film

An incredibly effective film, that works quite well, telling the story of the man who sells his soul to the devil, he becomes more and more corrupt but regrets it in the end. The performances are mixed such as the lead Craig who plays the man leaves something to be desired for most of the film, but Walter Huston makes up for this more than enough as incredibly entertaining, interesting Mr. Scratch. Edward Arnold is also quite strong as Daniel Webster especially in the final moments of the film. The story is a compelling and effective especially in its especially haunting supernatural moments well directed by William Dieterle. The best part of the film may be the incredible score by Bernard Hermann which is simply incredible throughout the film always adding incredible atmosphere and power to every scene. Despite a few flaws like Craig's acting the film is an incredibly effective piece of work.
