The King and I (1956)

Overdone

The king and I is a fairly overdone musical. The music I did not think was that good, and the story as expected is nothing special either. The acting is all overdone for the most part and everything is a bit forced, as in the ending comes on a little too quickly. That all would not matter if the music was really really good but it is not, it is just good.

Oscar Win Best Actor Yul Brenner 2/5- I like Brenner as an actor and was better the same year in Anastasia and especially the Ten Commandments. He does not sing in any great way nor does he act in any great way. He is fine and somewhat humorous but he is only okay at best. He dances, sings and acts but is not overly great in any of the parts.
