Irene In Time is a father-daughter story. Irene (played by Tanna Frederick), is an emotional train wreck who’s going through life missing her daddy. She’s also deep into the dating scene and trying to do it right – unfortuantely for her that means that she’s getting dating advice from those awful pop-psych books like “The Rules.” So obviously, she’s doing it all wrong – and in a very funny way. Her dates are disasters – some of the funniest dating scenes I’ve seen. She is weird but so are her dates. The supporting cast includes the fabulous Karen Black, Kelly DeSarla, David (the Sopranos) Proval, Victoria Tennant (who gives a riveting performance as Irene’s mother), Andrea Marcovicci (who is just brilliant here) and Lanre Idewu. Underscore the film with the music of Harriet Schock. Part of the movie is set in a recording studio where Irene is recording a CD. She’s backed by Harriet Schock and her band who provide marvelous music for the film. My favorite is the song about Starbucks. I highly recommend this film. The ending was a bit strange and open to the viewer’s interpretation. Overall, it’s definitely worth watching.
