Competent, but Inferior Remake

This update to the Peckinpah classic ups the violence and gore factor, while keeping the main plot intact. The film's acting is effortless and is the real attraction of the movie, which misses some of the morally-interesting themes of the first film. The result is a film that is a thrilling and interesting ride, but ultimately ends on a depressing and hopeless note.
