Pickpocket (1963)
3.5/4 stars
Bresson presents a "Crime and Punishment" like tale - a tale of a young man with questionable morality who finds love after many mistakes and missteps. The film's narrated, matter-of-fact pace actually works, as the simplicity allows the film's themes to sink in. Martin LaSalle's wide-eyed performance anchors the entire emotional product.
