Paul Williams Still Alive
Paul Williams: Still Alive
2/4 stars

I was a child of the 70s, so I was really immersed in the many talents of Paul Williams growing up. He was a songwriter, singer, actor, comedian, and the man was on almost every sitcom or gameshow of that era. I was excited when I found out someone was doing a documentary on Paul Williams. The documentary did not disappoint me. It showcased snippets of all the shows he was in, the many celebrities he collaborated with, and it allowed me into the private, mundane life of his. The problem with this documentary is the filmmaker. He chose to narrate the entire film. I love it when filmmakers allow themselves to disappear, showing only the subject and letting the audience come to their own conclusion. This filmmaker was too anxious, too needy to let that happen. Other than the filmmaker's constant whining, I enjoyed the documentary.
