Love ( Amour )
Language of Love
3.5/4 stars

Georges (Jean-Louis Trintignant) and Anne (Emmanuelle Riva) are man and wife in their eighties. Their love to each other is tested when Anne had an attack and has to suffer with illness from then on.

***

I used to avoid foreign films because I thought I would not understand them FULLY anyway. BUT THIS, this film. indeed, speak of the universality of love. First few minutes of the film, I said, "hey, they gave it away already." I thought the film would be soooo boring. If not with the outstanding performances of the actors, I would say that I was right that the whole movie would be indeed boring. BUT NO. These two old-age actors brought out the best of performances their characters needed. The message was undeniably delivered with the emotions, the crying, the touches, ALL OF IT. I understood it into my heart. And yes, THE TWIST. When you thought you already grasped it, it surprises you!
