The Majestic

Jim Carrey in a serious role

While a lot of people didn't like this movie because Jim Carrey was playing a more serious role, I thought he was brilliant in it. He showed exactly how wide a range of characters he can produce. The story is about screenwriter names Peter Appleton during the early 50's. Appleton was accused of communism for having attended a meeting that he was dragged to by his girlfriend when he was in college. Before he was supposed to be questioned by congress about his involvement in a communist organization, he is in a car accident in which he nearly drowns. When he revives he doesn't remember who he is, and he is found by a man walking on the beach who believes that Appleton is his son that left to fight in World War II and never returned.
The movie is amazing, the sets are wonderful, and the acting is superb. I would recommend this to most people.
