The Bucket List

Everything else is great except the chemistry part

The Bucket List has a pretty much simple yet appealing story that deals with two dying men who created a list of things to do before they kick the bucket so to speak. There a few high sides this film has, like the fact that the script was great and having big name actors to deliver them is even better. The concept of creating this list somewhat reminded me of yet another TV series called My name is Earl. Earl Hickey is supposed to be Morgan Freeman and Randy is supposed to be good old Jack. But unlike their TV counterpart the veteran actors did not even spark chemistry between them. Yes they delivered great lines and yes they are great actors, but that’s about it. I have a best friend and I know what that chemistry is like and that is not what I saw between Freeman and Nicholson. If I would give them a name, they’ll just be dying buddies. But then anyway another thing I like about this movie is that it has that sort of Shawshank Redemptionish vibe because of Freeman’s narrating prowess. So I guess even though there were lacking points between lead actors, it was overshadowed by as I said great script and amazingly good screenplay. Also supporting cast didn’t disappoint either so overall it was an unexpected fun and sad ride at the same time. I think I would be doing the same if my time has arrived. If so I would find me a rich billionaire roommate who’s of course dying and we’ll just sore high before we take that deep plunge.
