30 Days of Night - Ugly Vamps, but uglier story

The movie to me was like resident evil meets big brother... Kudos to the make-up job, these vampire guys are the ugliest a** I’ve seen today and probably the most realistic one. Because the vampire movies before, they are more concerned on who's pretty on film. Like crazy Tom, Mr. Jolie, Desperado himself, and yes who can forget Kate so hot Beckinsale.. The beginning of the movie was intense, kind of like mellow dramatic so to speak. You have the wanderer looking at horizon staring at the coldness of the last daylight. His main purpose is to warn the dammed villagers a plague is coming. His character to me was like a throwback to Steve Buscemi’s character in Desperado. Few minutes more into this movie, boredom comes into play. You somewhat felt like these villagers from Alaska was in a Vampire infested Bigbrother house. Their task is just simple, for the next thirty days “don’t die”. Sounds simple enough does it, oh before I forget these vampires has super sense of hearing, smell and has superior strength. And in a small village like this, how can you not find 10 people hiding in an attic, what the f*ck are these guys doing all day. They don’t sleep, because the sun does not rise for another 30 days. So how the hell they didn’t find 10 guys in a small village for 30 freaking days? On a good note, visually this movie was stunning; the setting was perfect for a killing spree. Cinematography wise, they did a good job. Every scene was very good to look at especially with all the blood flying around. Overall I could say, it was a good thrill for the most part, 3 stars for me. I’d rather watch the Lost Boys movie with Keifer Sutherland, that one doesn’t disappoint you at all..
