Shortly after the success of Paranormal Activity, Oren Peli put Area 51 into production - a found-footage film that was supposed to do for aliens what PA did for hauntings. That was 2009 - now, finally, in 2015 we get the finished product and the result is underwhelming and disappointing. A bunch of sci-fi buzz words, no tension or character development - in short, everything you don't want in a found-footage horror film is here. Much like Apollo 18, a wasted effort. No wonder they dumped this one on Netflix and forgot about it.
