Video Games: The Movie

A Brief History of Video Games
Chris Kavan - wrote on 11/30/14

So much history and evolution - Video Games: The Movie does go over a lot of ground, but it doesn't go too deep. It's mainly because there is just so much - the video game industry is quite young (comparative to history) but that doesn't mean there isn't a lot to cover. This is a great overview - it goes over history, some interesting facts, a few technical things, but interesting elements, violence and games, E-sports, going from 2D to 3D, the video game meltdown in the early 80s - is given little more than cursory notice. Great names - from Nolan Bushnell to Peter Molyneux to Hideo Kojima show up, along with some more recognizable (to general audiences) Chris Hardwick, Wil Wheaton and Donald Faison also show up. In general need of expansion (a rumored TV series would be excellent, I think) but for a brief look at the culture, expansion and growing acceptance of video games - this is a good place to start.
