Okay, I'm the first to admit this movie probably isn't about hackers at all - at least not ones based in reality. I have to admit that I still enjoy this movie. It's fun, the music meshes perfectly and there is an actual plot. It is hilarious to see how dated the "future" technology turns out to be. Still, Hackers is just a good time - no matter how far out of reality it lies.
