On a dreary night, six people were invited to a mansion to settle a series of blackmails connected to a man named Mr. Boddy (Lee Ving). After Mr. Boddy is murdered, however, the guests have to solve the mystery in “Clue.”

This film is, of course, based on the board game of the same name (known as Cluedo in the U.K.). The characters, Mrs. Peacock (Eileen Brennan), Mrs. White (Madeline Kahn), Prof. Plum (Christopher Lloyd), Mr. Green (Michael McKean), Col. Mustard (Martin Mull) and Miss Scarlet (Lesley Ann Warren) are all present, including new characters Yvette (Colleen Camp) and Wadsworth (Tim Curry). You may have already known this, but I just wanted to point out the great cast.

Anyway, the movie itself is nothing special as a comedy, even though I do think it’s hilarious, but what is special is that there were three endings filmed, each randomly being played originally in theaters then ending up together on the video releases. All three endings are very plausible, and even though the cards say the last is the real ending, you can really decide for yourself.

“Clue” has become a cult classic after sadly and miserably failing at the box office. It’s definitely worth checking out, and you can find it in just about any bargain bin.
