Most people would have Field of Dreams, Bull Durham or Major League as their best baseball movie...not me....I am a huge Robert Redford fan and this movie is my all-time favorite about America's Pastime. Roy Hobbs faces all odds and the dramatic ending still gives me goosebumps like no other. Other strong performances include Robert Duval as the trivial sports reporter, Wilford Brimley as the tough as nails manager and Glenn Close as Hobb's childhood sweetheart who he reunites with. The only flaw in this well directed Barry Levinson flick would be how sultry Kim Basinger would bring you bad luck and somehow the less enticing Close would make things better. Anyway you slice it this film is a triumph and one of the best sports movies ever put on screen. Being a Dodger fan this movie speaks even more to me...and those who were around in 1988 and followed baseball will know what I mean....
