Great acting, poor script

A great acting job, but the story lost me. It's hard for a film at that time to really come out not looking fake. That bothered me when I watched it. Crawford still did the best she could with the script. And I love Walter Huston. However, the acting still didn't quite make up for the story that was done very PG, when it was a Rated R content.
