Ahhh, the fundamental difference between film and movies. Obviously, film is an artform that can transcend many ideas and suspend disbelief in order to make you think and feel for people who are, for all intents and purposes, fictional.

Then, there are good, old movies. Fun, light-hearted, not intended to convey great lessons or messages, but to take your mind off life for a while.

In my opinion, this is one of the latter.

This is an 80's comedy starring Michael O'Keefe (Danny from Caddyshack) and Paul Rodriguez. The short of it; Two small time New York hustlers have to get out of town and get a job driving a car to Palm Beach, Florida. Once there, they mingle with the rich and Jake (O'Keefe) falls for a rich heiress. The problem is, she cannot get her inheritance until she marries a gentleman and her uncle has to approve of the man.

Jake is not a gentleman, so he and Barney (Rodriguez) go to charm school.

The plot doesn't really matter, the real point of this movie is for Rodriguez to get in as many jokes as possible.

It is not and was never available on DVD, and I have about worn out my VHS copy (remember VHS?), but the movie was and is still very funny.

My brother and I still qoute funny lines to each other all the time.

Don't expect much, and you will be rewarded with a hilarious movie and a good time.

Denholm Elliot is really funny in his role as the owner of the school. Look for Marsha Warfield (Night Court) and a bit part (uncredited) from Linda Fiorentino.
