There's really nothing else to say about this film that hasn't already been said. DeNiro's performance, Scorsese's direction, the supporting players - they're all great. My only gripe is a standard gripe about most of Scorsese's films - they just don't know when to end, and here we have about a 30 minute coda about LaMotta's later years in life, which is a tough way to watch the end of the movie (save for a great jail scene) when the previous 90 minutes have been outstanding. A good viewing though, I can see why it wasn't as appreciated in its time but has grown since.
