Young at Heart (2008)

Funny and Inspiring

Young at Heart is a group of senior citizens who sing rock, punk, soul, and any other type of music you wouldn't expect to hear out of an elderly person's mouth. This documentary follows the group as they prepare for an upcoming show, complete with new, complicated songs. You get to know several of the members here, see their determination to learn the difficult music, and see them cope with the most pressing issue at hand - their health.

Everything builds up to their show, and seeing these seniors sing their hearts out makes for a truly rewarding viewing. An especially powerful moment comes toward the end, as a tribute to two members who passed away are memorialized to Coldplay's "Fix You." It's a moment that undeniably carries so much emotion that I dare anyone who sees it not to be moved.
