Yor: Hunter from the Future ( mondo di Yor, Il )

Awesome, Slightly Gay, and Utterly Badass!

Ah, "Yor: Hunter from the Future". One of my favourite movies of all time, and one of the many movies I cite when I give reasons as to why Reb Brown is one of the most awesome action stars of the 1980s. Between this movie and "Space Mutiny", Reb Brown has been in some of my favourite movies of all time. So, let's dig into why I think "Yor: Hunter from the Future" is a living testament to Reb Brown's badassery.

STORY- The story is ridiculous, and god-damn awesome because of it. Seriousely, it's about a barbaric warrior named Yor (Reb Brown) who lives in a prehistoric villiage and fights dragons and dinosaurs. Hell, in the very first scene in the movie, he fights and kills a murderouse Tricerotops. A Tricerotops isn't even a carnavor! But it's stuff like that which makes this movie so awesome. It's like the filmakers just said "Yeah, we know they don't eat meat, but fuck you, Reb Brown will kill it anyway!" Plus, you gotta love the lines in this, my favourite being the most famous one: "We're gonna need alot more hemp before the day is through!" I crack up every time I hear that one.

ACTING- The acting is absolutely gloriouse. Reb Brown.....'nuff said. The man is a legend, and one of the more underrated action stars. He kicked ass in "Strike Commando", he kicked ass in "Space Mutiny", and he kicks ass in this, too. Plus, I love how the movie flat-out tells us that Yor is badass. Literally- the movie's main theme song is an awesome "Flash Gordon" sounding song that literally says "Yor, he's the man!" You've GOTTA love that. So, Reb Brown's awesome in this. Everyone else? Abysmal performances, but that makes it more awesome.

DIRECTION: Antonio Margheriti, one of my favourite Italian schlock filmakers, is just awesome. 'Nuff said.

WRAP UP- Overall, "Yor: Hunter From the Future" is just a kickass warriorsploitation flick, and one of my favourite movies of all time. Honestly, I think they should have re-released this in theatres in 2009 and made it a Best Picture nominee instead of that peice-of-shit "Preciouse". Now THAT would've been awesome!
