Push is action packed, but that is about all.

Push reminded me a lot of Hero's. It consisted of a bunch of young people with developing powers going against an agency that tries to control them. It wasn't bad, just wasn't incredibly original.

First, the problems: The directing wasn't consistent. Sometimes it was trying to be artsy with raw video and music that made it look like a music video. Other times it was what you would expect out of an action film, refined and impactful. But the mix just didn't work for me. It also added some length to the movie that wasn't needed or desired.

The good: The action was really well done. The special effects were cool and some of the powers were really neat. The acting wasn't particularly bad, but wasn't poor enough to degrade the movie.

As an action film the movie succeeds beautifully. As something more.. it is just okay. If you liked Wanted or Hitman then this movie is for you.

Child stars are often too over the top with their roles when trying to move into adulthood. I was waiting for "slutty bartender" or "coke-whore" Dakota Fanning to pop up in a movie somewhere... she made a good choice here. She did well with the acting but will have the option to completely deny it's existence in a few months if she so chooses. Write On Profile +
