Action: 2 / 3, Comedy: 0 / 2, Good vs Evil: 1 / 1, Love/Sex: 0.5 / 1, Special Effects: 0.5 / 1, Plot: 1 / 1, Music: 0.5 / 1 = 5.5 / 10 or 55%.

Doctor Strange begins on a high note and introduces the viewer to a grand battle between a supernatural behemoth and a team of monks trying to save the city by slaying it. The build is not as respectable as the Dr. turns to medicine and science to save himself, but it is the mystic arts that save him in the end. It is this second half that really lets the viewer down. Why?

To date, Marvel's animated attempts (Ultimate Avengers, Iron Man etc.) all fall flat on their face when they attempt to make their hero's human side sympathetic. This is no different. The Marvel animation team do not develop their animated characters well and the personal struggles they introduce are laughable at best, though unavoidably embarrassing. Thus, Doctor Strange begins by showing you all of its cards and then has nothing else to offer or top it.

If one must watch a Marvel film to fill that comic urge go with the superior Iron Man or X-Men 2. Avoid this.
