Splashy jungle opera set in the war-torn Orient, during in the turmoil between communist insurgents and the colonial government. An American expat (Holden); a British civilian (York); a native teacher (Capucine); and a devout radical (Tanba) are all caught up in the upheaval. The romance leans on the melodramatic at times.
