A nail-biting thriller that also serves as a melancholic mood-piece that captures the paranoia of 1970s America.
Robert Redford is convincing as the bookworm turned fugitive after he stumbles upon a sinister conspiracy. Dunaway is his alluring love interest while Max von Sydow plays the cunning assassin hired to track him down.
It may be a half hour longer than necessary but it feels eerily prescient for future audiences wary of global affairs and American politics.
