Six Days, Seven Nights

Not the next African Queen but still okay overall.

If someone told me they were making a movie with Harrison Ford and Anne Heche as this odd couple stranded on a island together, it'd sound terrible. And let me tell you that for the first fifteen minutes, it seemed to go in that direction. But once Anne Heche and Harrison Ford get together, they actually make a funny screen couple with real chemistry. Her character's city-slicker quips against his gruff blue-collar sarcasm gets some good laughs and the script moves at a pleasant pace. David Schwimmer plays Heche's hapless fiance who's stuck with an awful subplot that reverts 'Six Days Seven Nights' into being the terrible movie people were expecting. While I cannot comment on whether or not such a production warranted a $70 million budget (looks nice but not much really happens) I can compliment the casting decisions. Together, they make this movie more fun than it has any business being.
