An apt exploration of what could possibly be the scariest situation that anyone could ever face: the possiblitity of dying in space, with absolutely no escape available. Before "Pandorum" and "Sunshine" and games like "Dead Space," there was a true, real, actual event that brought fear to us, that space is not a destination, but a hazardous road to places we want to visit. A grand directorial achievement for Ron Howard, and great performances all around (especially by Tom Hanks and Bill Paxton).
