Freddy vs. Jason

A disappointing clash of horror icons

It could have been the greatest horror meet-up since "King Kong vs. Godzilla", but what it was was a poor attempt at bringing the two horror icons of the last twenty years.

"Freddy Kruger" (Robert Englund) returns to "Elm Street", but due to the fact that his powers are too weak, he conjures up the psychopathic zombie "Jason Voorhees" (Ken Kirzinger) to scare his pending victims in the real world so he can scare them to death in his dream world.

This movie is not scary, then again -- movies like this are never are. You always know something is about to happen when the music cues you that something is about to happen. And when something does, you're not screaming your head off.

The violence is not done very well, and looks pretty fake. There is also one scene where "Freddy" appears as a caterpillar -- but you can tell it's computer generated.

There is not enough character development to care for "Freddy" and "Jason's" victims when they get killed. There are some with the two survivors at the end of the movie, but not enough to care for them. In my opinion, character development is paramount in advancing a plot in a movie.

This movie was wanted by fans of the "Elm Street" and "Friday the 13th" for years, but what they got was simply a disappointing movie that could have been one of the greatest horror movies of all time.
