X-Men: Apocalypse

X-Men: Good enough but faulty

I've really got to turn off my mind sometimes and suspend thought. This is supposed to be a highly tense, energetic, action movie. For the most part it succeeds, except in the many many times where it is full of cliched dialogue and characters. I found myself practically muttering the next phrase a couple of times it was so predictably obvious.
Jennifer Lawrence will the get the brunt of the lot of hate only because she is so prominently featured, but it is really unwarranted against her. I was REALLY happy to see Nightcrawler, and they wrote his character and actions up to my very high standards.
The sequence of Quicksilver got the most audience reaction, but this attempt was so much more obvious as computer driven than the fantastic scene from Days of Future past that it felt trifling. In fact I half believe the ONLY reason it is included in the film is because of audience reaction from DoF.
There seems to be a lot of that in this movie. So many instances where Bryan Singer and the writers seemed to be saying "OK we have to close this little story and answer this question about that character and make sure we include the answer to why this person did that" which is good of course, because it took five movies to get it right. But I felt much of it was forced in. I know I'm being a little vague, because I don't want to ruin what really is a fun movie for anyone. Just don't expect there to be anything subtle about it.
