Very good performances. I want Sidney Poitier to win arguments for me.The only character who wasn't believable in this movie was the daughter, Joanna- she was just so oblivious to the entire situation. A person can be optimistic and open minded without being completely blind to what's going on around her. She didn't even have much of a personality- she was just annoyingly cheerful and her only real trait was that she was a white girl marrying a black man. However, that's one of the only serious flaws I can find here. Well, that and the fact that the final scene was kind of drawn out too much, with the dad retelling the entire first half hour and so on. I liked how the end wasn't exactly perfect though- like, just because her dad made a speech, not everything sorted itself out right then and there. There was a sense that there was still a lot of work to be done, especially with John's father who still did not look pleased by the time the movie ended.
