The Place Beyond the Pines

Bold and beautiful filmmaking

"The Place Beyond the Pines" stars Ryan Gosling, Bradley Cooper Eva Mendes, Dane DeHaan, Bruce Greenwood and Ray Liotta. Directed by Derek Cianfrance.
Ryan Gosling is the motor-bike stunt rider Luke, who works in a circus. On day his former Girlfriend(Eva Mendes) shows up and tells him about their one year old son. Luke wants to take care about him and starts robbing banks.
Bradley Cooper is the cop Avery Cross who keeps making bad decisions throughout his life.
And Dane DeHaan plays a teenager who gets mean to criminal life.
All these stories are connected but I won't tell you how.

Gosling is on fire in this movie, he gives (in my opinion) ^his best performance so far. E´va Mendes as the mother of the child gives a convincing performance. The other supporting actors did a well job as well, but despite all these stars one man comes into your eyes: BRADLEY COOPER
he is giving the best performance of his his career so far. After I watched the movie I just wanted to ask him: "Oh my God. Mr. Cooper, where have you been?"
Moreover the acting, the cinematography and the ´score of this movie were very good.

The thing which weren't so good were the script. Towards the End the characters don't have the huge build up as in the beginning. And, to be honest, I am no fan of the directing of Derek Cianfrance. He puts nearly all sorts of camera perspectives in this movie. From shaky-cam to light flares.

However, the movie at his best parts was bold and beautiful filmmaking!
