Sukiyaki Western Django

This film is essentially an homage, of an homage, of an homage. It's a stale copy of a few specific stylistic agendas all mashed together with little to no substance. Genres represented are: classic Japanese samurai, spaghetti westerns (inspired by the former), and the films of Tarantino (inspired by both formers). The main problem here is that writer/director Miike is not a good copycat. His way of constructing stories and use of dialogue do not fit any of these styles, causing a mess. The addition of Tarantino himself just makes that fact more obvious. The lack of interesting characters or dialogue, and slow pace, makes for an often boring watch.
