Tomorrowland

'Tomorrow' is in Your Hands

'Tomorrowland' breathes the essential elements of past futuristic sci-fi films back into the mainstream. Imagination, ingenuity, and an exploration of timely social themes are the agenda amidst this family friendly fare. There's a nice balance between those qualities and the fun adventure of classic Disney. Something which has not been seen in decades. The unfolding mystery plot builds intrigue for the first two-thirds. It's not until the final act that we arrive in Tomorrowland. This area is where most concentrate all their criticism, and I have to admit that I wasn't completely satisfied with a few cliches used in-route to the conclusion. But the actual final moment is a good sendoff that wraps up the overall message of the film in an inspiring fashion. I believe this positive message is needed in today's society. It champions the idea of striving towards a better tomorrow through the combined efforts of all our exceptional talents. It instills an optimistic point of view that has been sorely missing from most bleak futuristic films of recent years. The hope and determination of the main character has the potential to inspire older children. For that reason alone I endorse a recommendation. 'Tomorrowland' is still a fun journey, regardless. A very good film that falls just short of being something truly great.
