Mad Max: Fury Road
The Epitome of Action Cinema!
4/4 stars

The 'Mad Max' series is back and better than ever! 'Fury Road' is the epitome of non-stop adrenaline fueled action spectacles. The enormous chaotic set pieces on display are absolutely INSANE! This entire film is a furious beast that never lets up, just like it's fanatic characters driving with high-speed careless danger. That danger is felt up close through meticulously crafted and perfectly executed stunt work. Awe-inspiring is the proper term to describe every second of the action. Almost every bit feels real and raw. It's the most visceral excitement I've had at the cinema in recent years, outside of the amazing 'Raid' series. 'Fury Road' is the car battle equivalent to those films. Every shot, every car, every explosion, and every death-defying moment are all handled with the upmost care and importance. The action itself is what propels the plot. There's little downtime to be had. The story is told as much as possible with visuals. Through the amazing creativity of the sets, wardrobes, and vehicles, I was sucked into this apocalyptic nightmare immediately. I understood the mechanics of general operations and the reasonings of the characters, all without any dialogue. This is world-building at it's best. The sweeping bombastic music adds to the furious-ness of the battles and emphasizes the emotional strife of the characters. Those characters are diverse and crazy in their own opposing means of survival. All are easily defined using simple methods. Each one also plays some degree of significance in the outcome of the fighting. There's an artistic edge to everything on screen. The culmination of all the positives I've listed are the product of something that is not seen in big release films these days. It's the graphic novel aesthetic. 'Fury Road' is an intense graphic novel brought to live-action in purest form. I cannot speak more highly of this film. It is one of the most engaging action heavy experiences I've ever had at the cinema. I would go as far to say 'Fury Road' is one of the best action movies ever made. It's nothing short of brilliant!
