Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)

A Film Fan's Movie!

'Birdman' is the most original film I've seen this year. It's original in the new inventive ways it combines so many elements to make one smooth, cohesive whole. This film is an in-depth performance piece, a visually impressive artistic statement, an emotional/psychological drama, a sharp comedy/satire on actors, and a great commentary of just about everything that has to do with those who make and those who watch movies/plays. I was sucked in, and completely entertained, by all of these aspects coinciding perfectly through the amazing direction and terrific acting. The film is meant to look like one single continuous take, and it's the best I've ever seen done so. It's unbelievably seamless throughout, even moving forward days at a time in-camera. This adds to the immersive quality and made me feel like I was watching an up-close, intimate character play. I love films that push the boundaries and mix the familiar with the new to make a single unique experience. 'Birdman' will satisfy any film fan. Absolutely great!
