Real Life Vampires

'Only Lovers Left Alive' takes a more realistic approach to the vampire lifestyle. This is not a horror, action, or sexual flick with all the typical vampire troupes. Instead, the film focuses on the idea of what a life with immortality would be like. What would a loving couple do for centuries at a time? What purpose is left for those who have seen/done everything? These questions are explored through the every day mundane in an interesting fashion. The history of the two lovers is hinted at just enough to gain knowledge of their experiences. Swinton and Hiddleston are totally believable as a centuries old couple. Two wise and tired elders who, through the course of the film, find themselves inevitably drawn back to utilizing their long repressed vampire abilities to save from boredom.
