Man of Steel

You Will Believe A Man Can Cause Mass Destruction

'Man of Steel' is a much needed step above the disappointing 'Superman Returns'. For one thing, this re-boot is much faster paced and entertaining. Not a moment of screen time is wasted. The film swiftly covers large ground, in epic-scoped fashion. It is flashy, effects heavy and bombastic, but also thrilling and 'wow'-inducing in those aspects. There is enough spectacular action here to fill up two movies. It almost feels too much. The sheer amount of destruction alone is more immense than almost anything I've ever seen on screen. The story is well thought out, but not the best laid out. The individual 'flashback' moments involving Clark's upbringing on Earth are quite good and contain some genuine emotion. Though, do to the rushed/action packed nature of the film, they don't give us the insight into the Superman character that is promised. The real identity of Superman is slightly convoluted. As for the man himself, Cavill does a commendable job donning the cape. Superman fans will be split on certain aspects, but those looking for a top-notch action romp will be more than satisfied.
