Fast & Furious 6
A film with an actor named Diesel lacks fuel.
2.5/4 stars

I realized only around seven months later that I had never written a review for Fast & Furious 6.
To add to that, I only realized seven months later that I had even seen Fast & Furious 6… So here we go.

If you couldn't already decrypt the passage above, let me just make this clear: Fast & Furious 6 is one of the most forgettable films I have ever seen.
On my parallel website, where I post all of my reviews, I had completely forgotten to add my review of this film, because I had forgotten to even write one.
I like Justin Lin and his directorial style, but I think he should step down from directing this deadbeat series for a while, because not even bringing a character back to life from the last film has given the franchise a mere hint of redemption. And that really bothers me. Who thought a series with more sequels than Batman or a Marvel summer film would go so unnoticed and still manage to pop out another feature every summer?

Okay, mini rant aside, some other things I observed:

Fast & Furious 6 may also be some of the greatest fun in the cinema this year.
It wasn't nearly as enjoyable as its bada*s predecessor, but Furious 6 had some solid action and cars. I admit, writing this review in the wake of Paul Walker's tragic death is quite eerie, but he gave an enjoyable performance as always. I usually gave his performances a pass, his work in the films was just pure fun… at least in the first one.

I'm starting to grow less and less fond of Vin Diesel and his overly macho, barely comprehensible half-grunts with which he likes to replace dialogue. It was bad in Fast Five, but at this point, I have to draw the line.
Another thing that bothers me is them constantly trying to save the franchise by adding love stories and subplots. Who cares about Luke Evans' and Michelle Rodriguez's relationship? Who cares about the couples discussing marital difficulties?
I go to a movie like Furious 6 to see tyre rubber burning on asphalt and not a loosely developed drama.

If you turn your thinking caps off and ignore the useless subplots for an hour and a half, you'll have yourself a blast in this testosterone-pumping, loud and action-packed thrill ride as a cliché DVD cover quote would say.
