To Kill a Mockingbird

An excellent message shells an excellent movie.

I usually don't like films which feature racism as the primary topic. They usually end up being forced emotion and white guilt, but for the ones that I do like, it's hard to leave out To Kill A Mockingbird.

I got the Digibook to this film a few months ago, and I'm not regretting a thing, it was worth every penny.
Although it is a black and white film, it has that feel-good quality that we barely find anymore in films today. It feels like it's in color. It reaches out to you with its characters, dialogue, excellent storyline and all-round execution.
It features the point of view of a child, which is sometimes very important, as innocence is a leading factor of justice and right and wrong need to be broken down.
Gregory Peck is mesmerizing. The dialogue he delivers gives me goosebumps, especially during the lengthy courtroom scene. It may seem like a courtroom drama, but it is simply a story of crime and justice.
It never bores you. Never. There's always something to like or look forward to, because the whole story is so captivating.
Some scenes may shock some viewers and the whole movie in general is a huge tear-jerker, so I warn you, it's not a film for everyone; but it's a film everyone should see.

I can't find anything wrong with it. I know I'm mooching a lot of this off of the Nostalgia Critic's review, but I can't help it. He said it so perfectly. Go and watch his 20 Best Films of all Time video, To Kill A Mockingbird is at number three.

It's a courtroom drama, it's a character study, it's an examination of innocence, it's a work of art.
The message it sends is a powerful one. That it is important to know the difference between what society thinks is correct and what you as a person find correct. It's a study of morals, humanity, prejudice and doing the right thing.
