I Am Sam is about Sam, who is mentally retarded. After 7 years of raising his daughter Lucy on his own, Lucy begins to question why Sam is not like any other fathers. She dumbs herself down so as not to outsmart her father, and this is recognized by her teacher. This is when all the trouble starts. Sam struggles through impatient lawyers, intimidating court cases and a whole lot of pressure, all so he can keep custody of Lucy.
This is a really sad and heartwarming story, that didn't fail to keep me mesmerized throughout the whole two hours. A must see.
