Jack the Giant Slayer

Jack is a Fun Adventure

Jack The Giant Slayer exceeded my expectations by a wide margin. It may prove to be one of the biggest flops of the year, but it will not be due to the quality of the film itself. Maybe my expectations were too low coming in, but I really enjoyed this adolescent adventure from the X-men director (why didn’t they use that more in the marketing?)

Sure the main characters are bland as balls, but I really liked the supporting cast, Especially Tucci’s delicious villain and McGregor’s heroic soldier. Sure the giants may have looked fake, but they were still fun to watch, and one of them is voiced by Rattlesnake Jake. The point here being that, sure the movie has flaws, big obvious ones, but they aren’t enough to take away from the films spirit of adventure and the few fun surprises that are in store for the audience.

Jack the Giant Slayer Review comment

The marketing for the movie (much like John Carter) was a mess - if they had supported this more, I think it could have had a better opening. When studios take a dive on a film - it's never a good sign, although Jack doesn't look like a complete disaster - I'll watch it - but likely from home instead of at theaters.
