Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back
Best of the Star Wars Films

The Empire Strikes back is hands down the best of the Star Wars franchise. The story is intriguing; the characters believable and well acted. The dark mood of the film sets a superb underlying tone to the movie, helped in no small part by one of the greatest movie scores of all time. However, the real reason this movie shines is because of its character development. Stars Wars was not a great franchise because it was an action-packed sci-fi flick (there are plenty of those), but because the characters it introduced were some of the most original and memorable ever produced on film. Who can't immediately place Darth Vader's voice? Who can’t picture the black cloaked form of Vader, marching down the corridors of his star destroyer? Who can't remember the infamous lines from the legendary plot twist?
