Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End

Avoid It - There's Better Ways to Spend 3 Hours

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End is an embarrassing finale to an otherwise entertaining and original trilogy. The story is confusing and directionless - it seemed to me that random elements of the first two movies were spliced together to create a third installment. The action sequences, while impressive, are mired by a set so dark and shadowy it renders the movie almost unwatchable off the big screen. Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp), who breathed charisma into the previous two movies, has been reduced to mundane conversations with himself and other half-hallucinatory episodes which bring nothing to the story. Several plot twists (i.e. Calypso) add absolutely nothing to the story other than to enhance the already bloated run time of almost 3 hours.

Sadly, I found this to be one of the least entertaining movies I have watched in the last few years, save for some very well choreographed action scenes with some very sharp cinematography.
