The Purge, while trying desperately to take a different approach, is ultimately just another typical home invasion thriller. Poor storytelling, bad acting, laughable dialogue, and a weird ending. For what it is, the film begins kind of-sort of solid, but gradually gets dumber and dumber as it eventually gives itself over to senseless chaos and a stupid finale. There's some nasty kills for the blood hounds to enjoy, but other than that, save your time for a movie that isn't this mediocre. 2/4
