The Big Lebowski

An offbeat classic!

It's difficult to do justice to this movie in just a few words, but there's something truly magical and life-affirming about The Big Lebowski. It's labyrinthian, non-important plot is just an excuse for some of the most memorable characters to grace the screen and some of the cleverest writing to hit an audience's ears. Jeff Bridges is The Dude, a lazy pothead living in California whose main interests in life are getting high, drinking white russians and bowling (although one of the film's clever moves is never to show him bowling). His buddies are the picked on Donnie (an underrated Steve Buscemi) and the larger-than-life Vietnam veteran Walter (the unforgettable John Goodman). Endlessly quotable, undeniably rewatchable, this hilarious Coen Brothers concoction is a truly enjoyable movie for those who can handle the excessive profanity. This cult classic has achieved comedic brilliance effortlessly. Final Grade: A
