Identity Thief

Decent comedic endeavor!

Sandy Bigelow Patterson (Jason Bateman) is a mild manner accountant who always does the right thing, saving, taking care of his family, and being a responsible worker while Melissa McCarthy plays the scam artist who steals people's identities, running up huge tabs on alcohol, jewelry, and cosmetics. In this movie she tricks Sandy into giving her his vital information and then steals his identity, which in return ruin his credit and ends up costing him a high paying job. With the police unable to do anything Sandy decides to go get the woman who calls herself Diana himself. He’s given a week to go to Florida to find his thief, and then bring her back to the police. Finding the woman is easy enough, but trying to subdue her is the difficult part. She’s a violent ruthless woman who won't go without a fight and she has a vile weakness for painful throat jabs and low blows. Eventually, since they can't take a plane, Sandy and Diana have to drive cross-country from Florida to Denver and are pursued by a pair of gangsters whom Diana screwed over (rapper T.I. and Genesis Rodriguez) and an angry bail bondsman (Robert Patrick). They of course bond in the process of doing so.

Melissa McCarthy performance is the highlight of the film. The rest of the cast includes Amanda Peet as Sandy’s loving wife, John Cho as his new boss, Jon Favreau as his asshole ex-boss and Maggie Elizabeth Jones and her sister Mary Charles-Jones play Sandy's cute daughters.
